5-4-1 Formation

The 5-4-1 Formation is a much more safer and defensive option. Rather then play with 4 defenders, this tactical play gives 5 defenders. More defenders make it harder for the opposing team to score goals. Also, with 4 midfielders to help out, it gives decent posession play but only in your own half of the pitch.

Attack

Attacking options with this tactical play is limited. Having only one striker makes it harder to score goals if the midfielders do not give the correct support. There is still the standard wing play options but with only one striker too aim for in the center. With this tactic, it is usually not too risky to get more midfielders into the opponents half of the pitch and attack. With five defenders on as the back line, it is easier to deal with the opponents counter-attacks.

Defending

Defending with this formation is very good. With midfielders getting back to help, and a defensive line of 5 players, you can easily outnumber attackers with defenders. Unless the opposing team have incredible talent on their team, then they are going to have get more players forward to attack. When this happens, they will be more open to counter attacks.
