Controlling the ball

Air Balls
Controlling the ball that is coming at you in the air can sometimes be difficult. You can control the ball by using your chest or your feet. There are 2 ways you can control an air ball using your foot.

The first is trapping the ball. To trap a ball, get in line with the ball before it falls and use your inside of the foot and cushion the ball so it hits the ground. You have to make sure that once the ball hits the floor, you position your feet just above the ball so it is trapped between your foot and the ground. This will control the ball instantly.

The second is too cushion the ball using the top of your feet before it drops too the ground. This technique is similar to doing kick-ups(keepy ups) as you are trying to kill off all the momentum with the top of your foot to bring the ball down. You can use this instead of trapping the ball if you feel the playing surface is bad or you can’t reach the ball to trap it.
