Receiving the ball
Receiving the ball with less touches is important for soccer players to create opening. When a soccer player makes a pass too a team-mate, it has to be received by a team-mate.
One aspect of good passing is to put the ball into an area which makes life easy as possible for the receiver. Players must practice to receive the ball because not all passes can be perfect. Good soccer players practice this so they will be ready to deal with it when it happens.
Players must practice receiving the soccer ball that might be spinning, travelling at great pace, bouncing awkwardly or coming at a great height.
Before the ball arrives, you should have already made up your with what to do with the ball, whether its a first time strike or too bring the ball down to your feet.
Good ball control merely buys you extra time and space. That is why good first-touch control is important in tight situations.
Lets just put it this way, the less time you need to receive a ball, the more time you have to execute your next pass, be it a pass, dribble or a shot on goal.
Make sure to use other body parts as well as your feet
The ball can be received with various parts of the body. Players often use foot but sometimes they may have to use thigh or chest. Ball control falls into two categories: Cushion and firm control.
It is important to learn both these techniques as they will come in handy when playing a real game.
